TABLE SAW INFORMATION
Use the right type of blade and be sure that the blade is sharp and is in good condition.
Be sure that the blade is installed correctly and that the teeth are pointing toward the operator side of the table.
Use the guard and other safety devices whenever it is practical and correct to use them.
Get permission before you change the blade or make any other adjustments on the saw.
The saw must be off before any major adjustments or changes are made.
Turn off the saw and wait until it is completely stopped before making any minor adjustments.
The blade should be raised so it is no more than 1/8" above the material being cut.
When the rip fence is used as a guide be sure it is locked in place before you start the cut.
The material must be held down tight against the surface of the table and along the rip fence as it moves past the table.
Always use a push stick when you are making a narrow cut.
Never use the rip fence as a guide when you cut across the width of the material. Use the miter gauge as a guide when cross cutting.
Hold the material firmly against the miter gauge and down against the surface of the table, but keep your hand & body away from the blade and out of the path of the cut.
Be sure the miter gauge slides smoothly down the length of the guide slot before you start the cut.
Do not saw freehand on the table saw.
The wood must be straight. Do not cut curved material on the table saw.
The wood must be edged and surfaced. Do not cut warped lumber on the table saw.
Get the instructor’s permission if you need to cut round or cylindrical stock.
To avoid injury from a kick-back, stay out of the area directly to the right of the blade and the material being cut. (Right hand tilt saws only. Substitute left for right on a left hand tilt saw).
Keep your hands and arms away from the blade and avoid reaching over the top of the blade.
Use a long piece of scrap or a push stick to clear scraps from the area around the blade .
Get permission before you use any special set-up and before cutting the wood.
Do not start a cut until the saw has come up to full speed.
Never back out a cut while the saw is running.
Ask for help when you cut a large piece of material.
Ask someone to "tail-off" for you.
Don’t do anything on the saw that hasn’t been properly demonstrated for you. Don't do anything unless you understand how to do it correctly and safely.
Do not adjust the fence when the table saw is running .
Your left hand should never go past the red insert on the table.
The cut is not complete until the wood is past the red insert on the table.
In the event of a power loss always switch the machine to the off position.
When cutting a piece of wood your left hand should be holding the wood firmly against the fence.
